After having complained about the difficulty or sometimes even impossibility of getting a spot at the library after 10 o’clock or about the noises due to the renovation for the whole first semester, I now, while looking at the new area of the library, have to take everything back and have to admit that it was completely worth it.
The red, black and white balloons in front of the entrances draw my attention to the first floor and made me curious to check out what is hidden behind. After having entered I found myself amazed by the modernity of this new area as I associated the first floor always with the wooden tables in my first classroom at elementary school. The nostalgic and shabby atmosphere of that place is now completely gone. Here are some impressions:
Can you imagine something more relaxing than looking at a canal? I can absolutely see myself daydreaming here for hours.
More cosy chairs to rest and read
I wonder what these little glass offices are for…
Chairs within book shelves
I really like this old meets new effect; they should leave it like that
Though I am a big fan of nostalgia, I really do like the new style of the library. As I mainly come here to work, (though the new cosy chairs are a really tempting opportunity to just sit down and look at the canal) I truly believe that this clear environment will help me to get clearness in my head about my thesis which I have to start writing now. Thank you UB! That was really perfect timing. I got a bit tired of the area on the ground floor as I have been using it the whole last semester and find it really refreshing and motivating to be able to work in a new place. Fingers crossed this motivation will last.
