The Leidener

A Blog by International Students at Leiden University

uit eten!

Passed all the exams of your first semester? The best friend’s birthday is coming up? Your family is finally coming to visit soon? I am sure, that there will be reason to treat yourself!

To give you some inspiration – here are my five culinary highlights for a student’s budget:

Roos – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! No matter if you are craving for croissants, scrambled eggs with bacon or a fancy Acai bowl – this cozy place at Botermarkt will make sure that you start your day right.

City Hall – Italian approved! Enjoy the best food in the world and don’t miss this deal: Pizza and Pasta for 10 euros on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5 to 7 pm.

Dende – You’re up for everything? This place offers ‘plankjes’ for 2 with a variety of delicious tapas for seafood addicts, meat lovers and vegetarians…and don’t worry: in case, your date has a different taste, they will make you a mixed one.

fresh ‘n’ fast – “We have the best burgers in town.” – That’s what they say and they definitely keep their promise. In case you do not want to create your very own burger, the menu offers everything from fresh salads, spicy curries to cheesy nachos with guacamole.

Annie’s – The best choice for a warm summer evening! Sit outside – literally on a canal – right in the city center and choose from a variety of tasty dishes. Only watch out for the seagulls who will probably like your order just as much… 😉

Eet smakelijk!
